The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra or Stotra to please Lord Shiva is also known as the great death-conquering mantra and the Tryambakam Mantra. It is called the great death conquering mantra or sotra because it is recited as a preventive for untimely death. This stotra is said to be the perfect chant for enlightenment and is said to have the ability to wipe away the karmas of every individual and rejuvenate the body and the mind. The mantra also brings its chanter health, wealth, happiness and a long life. It is called the Tryambakam Mantra or sotra because it is dedicated to Tryambakam or the three-eyed-one.
